LIMERICK
Limerick is a large administrative city in the Midwestern part of the Republic of Ireland. It originated as a Viking community back in 812, and was later rearranged according to the Norman architectural style. Lying on the River Shannon, today the city centre is divided into a traditional English town featuring King John's Castle, an Irish area with old streets along the southern bank, and the current economic centre named Newtown Pery. Limerick is a main tourist destination in the country, with some of its attractions being St. Mary's Cathedral, the Hunt Museum, the University and Bunratty Castle.
